Exporting Your Data

We believe that your data is yours. Whether you are moving to a new system, submitting an insurance claim, or just want an offline backup, Mini Vault allows you to export your entire account at the click of a button.

1. Starting a data export

Data Export settings page showing the Request Export button — Get a complete backup of your vault

  1. Open the sidebar and navigate to Settings.
  2. Click Data Export from the settings menu.
  3. Review the information on the screen, then click the Request Export button.
  4. Your request will be queued in our system. Depending on the size of your vault and how many high-resolution images you have, it may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour to compile into a single ZIP file.

You do not need to stay on this page! Feel free to close Mini Vault. We will email you a secure download link as soon as your export is ready.

2. Export history

Your Data Export page acts as a log of all previous exports.

  1. Navigate to the Data Export settings page.
  2. Look at the Recent Exports table.
  3. You will see the date, time, and status of previous requests.
  4. If an export is less than 7 days old, you can click the Download button to instantly retrieve the file again without waiting for a new generation. For security reasons, download links expire after 7 days.

3. What's included in your export

Your secure .zip file contains absolutely everything in your vault.

  1. catalog.csv: A comprehensive spreadsheet that can be opened in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. It contains a row for every single item in your vault, complete with the name, description, category, purchase price, dates, tags, and scale.
  2. collections.csv: A spreadsheet linking items to their parent collections, including collection descriptions and privacy settings.
  3. images/ folder: A massive folder containing the original, high-resolution source files of every photo you ever uploaded to Mini Vault, organized into sub-folders by item name!
  4. budget.csv: (Premium/Pro only) A spreadsheet of all project expenses logged in your account.
