Search & Discovery

Finding a specific item in your vault or browsing someone else's public collection is easy with Mini Vault's powerful search and filtering tools.

The global search bar is always available at the top of your screen, no matter what page you are on.

  1. Click or tap the search bar at the top of the interface.
    • Tip: Press Ctrl + K (or Cmd + K on Mac) to quickly open the search bar from your keyboard.
  2. Start typing. Mini Vault will instantly show matching items, collections, communities, and users.
  3. Click a result to jump directly to it!

2. Search modes and scopes​

By default, global search looks through your entire vault. However, you can narrow your search by using Scopes.

When you open the search bar, click on one of the scope buttons below the input field:

  • All: The default global search.
  • My Vault: Only searches your private collections and items.
  • Discover: Only searches public collections shared by other users.
  • Community: Searches community posts, showcases, and user profiles.

3. Filtering by category, price, condition, date, scale, manufacturer​

Sometimes you don't know exactly what to search for, but you want to narrow down your catalog. You can use Advanced Filters on your Collections list or Discover page.

  1. On the Collections or Discover page, click the Filter button next to the search bar.
  2. A sidebar will open with multiple filter categories:
    • Category: (e.g., Furniture, Lighting, Accessories)
    • Condition: (e.g., Mint, Good, Needs Repair)
    • Scale: (e.g., 1:12, 1:48)
    • Manufacturer / Artisan: Find all items made by a specific creator.
    • Price Range: Filter by the purchase price you entered.
    • Date Added: Find newly cataloged items or your oldest pieces.
  3. Select the checkboxes you want. The grid will instantly update!

4. Managing active filters​

When you apply filters, they appear as "chips" below the search bar.

  1. To remove a specific filter, click the X on its chip.
  2. To clear all filters and see your entire catalog again, click Clear All.

Note: Filters are sticky! If you filter by "1:12 Scale" and navigate away, that filter will still be applied when you return. Remember to clear it if you are looking for other items.

5. Browsing public collections (Discover)​

The Discover page is where you can explore the public collections of other Mini Vault users. It's a great place to find inspiration for your own dollhouse builds!

  1. Click Discover in the main sidebar (or from the dashboard).
  2. Browse the grid of public collections.
  3. You can use the search bar and filters here just like you do in your own vault!
  4. Click on any collection to view its items, read the creator's descriptions, and admire their gallery photos.
